3 little piggys born
of mama sows of Ernest & Gail Gurule of Gurule's Hog Heaven of Ojo Caliente, New Mexico. 2 young boys + young lady pig (about 150 total pounds) transported to our barnyard near Cerrillos, New Mexico in my husband's work van, cleared of its tools. This is the piggys first trip to anywhere, ever. Our two oldest sons were home to help carry our new pigs to their new digs. The safest carry is by the hind legs with their head hanging toward the ground. Lady Pig was strong and squealed all the way. The new pig home required reinforcement as the youngest readily showed us he can squeeze out. Why do they call it hog fencing? We are feeling a bit green today. Despite having a dog-eared version of Storey's Guide to Raising Pigs and the Gurule's as our kind mentors, you don't know until you do. "Learn by experience," the voice inside resonates. "Pig dreams do come true." |
